I have photographed six images, which express my favourite things. The first image is a skyline shot of Melbourne at dusk. I really like the fact that the sky is still lit up and the lights in all the buildings have turned on however, my favourite part of this image is the reflection off the hotel window on the left hand side which reflects a beautiful church located further down the street. My second image is also a photo of Melbourne however taken in the middle of the day. This image captures a typical, beautiful, blue sky winters day in Melbourne and it also captures the iconic Melbourne tram in motion. Not only are the shops and the beautiful city my favourite part of Melbourne but the atmosphere at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is also amazing. The third image shows the MCG previous to a Friday night game of football at the ‘G’. Looking at the image, you can see the grass had been cut and is looking ready and fresh for the game. At either end of the field, they have heat lights directing on the goal square to make sure the grass grows in time for the match. This image tells people that a lot of effort goes into making the field perfect before a big game of football. My fourth image is a photo of a football team. This portrays a group of happy coaches, players and water runners after a huge win in the grand final and also portrays girls with good friendships. My last two images are photos of two Richmond football players after training. Football is all about the fans and these two images illustrate the players getting involved with the fans and sign and get photos with the diehard supporters.James Nachtwey, and Joachim Ladefoged to name a few, the photo essay takes the same story telling techniques as a normal essay, translated into visual images.
